The data files backed up using Datashield Backup Professional are
encrypted on transmission using industry standard 128-bit
SSL. Your backed up data is stored in encrypted form and
only you can decrypt it.
ENCRYPTION ON STORAGE
Your transferred data is stored on Datashield servers by
default and using a user defined key. Your data cannot be
decrypted by anybody other than you. The backed up files
are stored in military grade AES 256-bit encryption and
automatically decrypted during restores. You can also store
your encrypted data to a local network drive for quick recovery
after a system failure.
HIGHER FILE RETENTION
You can restore up to 365 prior versions with the Datashield Backup
Professional Version including the most recent version of the data
files. Each backup creates a new backup set identified by
the backup date and time. You also have the ability to restore
the latest versions of all the files or versions of files
as of a specific backup set. Files can be restored to a
temporary directory for testing before replacing local files.
ENTERPRISE
CLASS REDUNDANCY
Your data is periodically backed up to local data centre
RAID devices for fast recovery in case of primary device
failure. In addition, data is periodically mirrored to alternate
data centers for additional redundancy. This process provides
for a highest level of redundancy, accounting for major
reginal disasters at the primary data center.

Security
The data files backed up using our Datashield's
Professional Vesion are encrypted on transmission using
128-bit SSL and the data files are stored by default encrypted
using AES 256-bit encryption*. The files automatically decrypted
during restores for easy recovery. Only you know your encryption
key and your data can not be restored from Datashield Servers
with out it.
File Versioning
Each backup creates a new backup set identified by the backup
date and time. Users can restore up to 365 prior versions
including the most recent version of their data files. Users
can also restore latest versions of all their files or versions
of files as of a specific backup set.
Open File Backup
Datashield Backup Professional Version allows backup of open files
including Outlook files (.pst), QuickBooks, MS-Excel, Lotus,
MySql, MSSQL, Outlook Exchange and more. Often users leave
their applications running that may leave backups of the related
data unreliable. However, Datashield Backup Professional now does
reliable backups of open file data. Please note that this
feature is available currently only for Windows XP, and Windows
2003 servers.
Managed Backup Log Information
Datashield Backup Professional allows you to view data backed up in
your account. Using the software interface, you can view the
log file of backups/restores performed and that of files and
folders deleted.
Enterprise Class Redundancy
For fast recovery in case of a data centre primary
device failure, user data is also backed up to local RAID
devices. For additional redundancy, data is constantly mirrored
to an additional remote data center. This process provides
for highest level of protection that will accomodate for major
disasters at the Datashield primary data center.
Fast and Efficient Backups
Datashield Backup Professional efficiently uses your Internet bandwidth
by compressing data files during transmission. Incremental
backups are done by transferring only the modified portions
of a file that was previously backed up therefor making your
backups faster.
Mapped Drive Support
Datashield Backup Professional supports backup of mapped drives in
NT service mode even if the system has been logged off.
Efficient Storage Computation
Total storage space is calculated only for the latest version
of any file and is not based on historical versions. Moreover,
you can retrieve any of the previous versions of a file, storage
space is calculated only for the latest version of a file.
For example, if you have 30 versions of a file then storage
space is calculated only for the 30th version of the file
and not for the previous 29 versions.
Data Integrity
Each file goes through an extensive set of 128-bit MD5 checksum
comparisons to ensure secure backups.
Incremental Backups
During an incremental backup, Datashield Backup Professional backs
up only the changed or modified portions of the file and hence
consumes less time for backups.
Automatic Selection
The 'Auto Select' feature selects the list of 'most commonly
used user data' and the 'most common application data types' requiring backup.
Automatic Power off after Scheduled Backup
A very handy feature if you have scheduled a backup and your
presence is not available. You can set this option to automatically
shut down the machine after the scheduled task.
MS SQL Server Backup
Backup MS SQL Server databases without interrupting running
MS SQL Server services. Features scheduling and log reporting
options.
MS Exchange Server Backup
Datashield Backup Professional provides you with a secure, quick and reliable
way to backup MS Exchange Server databases to your online
account. Using this application, you can perform backups and
restores of MS Exchange Server databases without interrupting
running MS Exchange Server services. You can also backup individual
mailboxes on the MS Exchange Server Store to your Datashield Backup
Professional account with the 'Exchange Brick-Level Mailbox
Backup’ feature.
System State Backup
System state backup creates a backup file for critical system
related components. This backed up file can be used to recover
the critical system components in the event of a crash.
Proxy Friendliness
Advanced settings enable users to setup connections via proxy
servers to be able to connect to Datashield Backup Professional servers
and perform backups.
